Your assignment is simple: say something smart about the Confederate memorial controversy that hit the US after Dylan Roof’s terror attack in a Charleston, South Carolina church in 2015.
So, this paper must by an analysis about the controversy over Confederate monuments, but you can analyze the controversy in any way you wish. Did it have economic roots? What does it say about the US during the last few years? How does it fit with Presidential politics? What are the monuments for, anyway?
This paper is not a policy paper or an evaluation. I don’t care whether you like, love, hate, or don’t care about the monuments, nor do I want to know what you think we should do with them.
